Service was not just something Danny did — it was who he was. From a young age, he answered the call to serve, beginning as a junior firefighter. Over the next five decades, Danny gave more than 50 years of combined service to the people of his community through the Goldsboro Rescue Squad, the Mar Mac Fire Department, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. He was an active and respected member of each organization, proudly serving on the fire department honor guard and water rescue team, and as a member of the sheriff’s department dive team.

Danny’s service extended beyond uniforms and titles — he was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or simply show up when others needed him most. He lived out his commitment to others not only through his public roles but in the quiet, everyday ways he supported family, friends, and neighbors.

Family was at the heart of Danny’s world. He cherished time with his loved ones, whether it was a day on the boat, casting a line while fishing, grilling up a meal, or enjoying a relaxing trip to the beach. He especially treasured time spent traveling with his wife and family, creating memories that will be held close by all who loved him.

Danny spent most of his working life alongside his parents and siblings at Edwards Truck Service, a business that was not just a livelihood, but a cornerstone of his family’s bond and values.

A man of faith, Danny attended Love Memorial Baptist Church, where he found spiritual strength and fellowship.

Danny will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his love of family, and his tireless dedication to making the world around him a better, safer place. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, humility, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
