Frederick Mabson “Rick” Moye, 67, passed away on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025 at his home in Tarboro. A native of Goldsboro, he was born July 17th, 1958 to Frederick Mabson Moye, Jr. and Barbara Elizabeth Yelverton Moye. 

Rick was a long haul truck driver most of his life. He traveled all 48 states and knew them like the back of his hand. He was a free spirit that enjoyed the daily change of scenery his career brought him. Rick loved to come home and enjoy a nice glass of whiskey and shag to beach music. If you were to call him and ask him what he was doing, he was very likely to say “oh watching an old war movie”, his favorite being anything starring John Wayne. He was known for his sense of humor and lightheartedness. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

He is survived  by his two daughters, Catherine Churchill and Rebecca Gainey, and their mother, Joy King Moye; son-in-laws, Tyler Churchill and Tyler Gainey and four grandchildren, Ava, Tate, Claire and Avery. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Moye Milks and husband, Robert, and their two daughters, Elizabeth Grimes and Emily Genther.

In lieu of a service, the family will host a Celebration of Life for Rick at a later date.
