Barbara Jean Jones Bushee, 87, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was born on October 25, 1937 in Gaston County, North Carolina to the late Seaburn “Bo” Vonzo Jones and Irene Blanton Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Peter Bushee, and a sister, Peggy Loveless.
Ms. Bushee graduated from Goldsboro High School, Class of 1956. She loved and enjoyed traveling, having the opportunity to go all over the United States and Canada. She was a long-standing member of Mount Carmel Methodist Church where she was very active until her health issues slowed her down.
She was a very accomplished artist, exhibiting her talents in sewing, crafts, crocheting and quilting. She loved her family very much and was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by daughters, Beverly H. Pate and husband, Ronnie of Pikeville and Sandra H. Murphy of Pikeville; son, Vince Allen Horne and wife, Vickie of Florida; brother, Ernest E. Jones and wife, Brenda and John W. Jones; grandchildren, Rhonda P. Daniels and husband, Mike, Marsha P. Peele and husband, Daniel, Linda B. West and John, Justin T. Pate and wife, Crystal, Cara Beth Gallagher, Holden Horne and McKinley Horne; and 13 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Mount Carmel Methodist Church in Pikeville.
The Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Mount Carmel Methodist Church at 610 Mount Carmel Church Road, Pikeville, NC 27863 with the Reverend Amy Kelly officiating.
