GOLDSBORO, NC – The Art Council of Wayne County is launching a unique new fundraising initiative that combines high fashion with community service. The organization’s First Annual Back-to-School Sneaker Ball, scheduled for August 23rd, promises to blend creativity, style, and charitable giving in support of local students.
Event Inspired by Generous Donation
The cultural celebration was sparked by a significant donation from a local collector who contributed a large portion of his personal sneaker collection to the cause. This generous gift inspired the Art Council to create an event that honors both the artistry of footwear fashion and the importance of supporting youth in the community.
Evening of Fashion and Fun
Attendees are encouraged to showcase their most stylish sneakers and finest outfits while enjoying an evening of entertainment. The event will feature a DJ providing music for dancing, beer and wine service, a selfie station for memorable photos, and displays of stunning sneaker art.
The celebration aims to demonstrate how fashion can serve as both personal expression and community support, creating an atmosphere where style meets substance.
Supporting Local Students
All proceeds from new sneaker donations will directly benefit local youth in need, helping them begin the school year with confidence and proper footwear. The initiative recognizes that having appropriate shoes can significantly impact a student’s self-esteem and school experience.
Sustainability Through Art
In keeping with the Art Council’s commitment to creativity and environmental responsibility, the organization plans to offer future classes on upcycling used shoes into works of art. The initiative emphasizes that waste can be eliminated when creativity leads the way, highlighting their dedication to sustainable practices and artistic innovation.
