In Loving Memory of Concetta DiCalogero Fritz Groves (1935–2025)
A life filled with music, warmth, and unwavering love.
Concetta DiCalogero Fritz Groves, 89, originally from Revere, Massachusetts, moved to Rensselaer, New York, and later to Goldsboro, North Carolina, passing away peacefully on August 10, 2025. Her life was a testament to joy, compassion, and quiet strength—a melody that played softly but left a lasting echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was born September 15, 1935, to the late Paul DiCalogero and Catherine Riccobene Dicalogero. She was one of 7; her 6 siblings all passed into heaven before her.
Her joy was both radiant and tender—a beautiful balance of exuberance and serenity. Music was her companion in every mood, whether she was dancing with delight or quietly humming while crocheting by the window.
From an early age, Connie found joy in the simple pleasures—swaying softly to her favorite melodies, losing herself in the pages of a good book, and creating beautiful, crocheted pieces that became treasured gifts. Her hands were always busy with love, crafting warmth into every stitch.
Her presence was marked by a quiet strength and a nurturing spirit—always prepared with a comforting embrace and words of sincere encouragement. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren speak with deep admiration of her compassionate nature, her lighthearted conversations that brought joy, and the enduring impact of her guidance. Her encouragement was never silent, she spoke often and openly of her pride in her family, instilling confidence and a sense of worth in those around her.
Children held a special place in her soul—not just her own, but all those in need. She supported several charities close to her heart, including Toys for Tots, the Indian School, and programs that helped teens attend summer camp—believing deeply in the power of joy, education, and opportunity. Her generosity extended far beyond her family, touching the lives of many she never met.
Connie leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, son Stephen Fritz and wife Elizabeth, son Wayne, daughter Debra Meier and partner Felice Rizzitano, and daughter Sharon Antonis and husband Bernard; 9 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of extended family. Her legacy lives on in every song sung with joy, every book read with wonder, and every moment shared with love.
