GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Peace Lutheran Church has announced a community food collection initiative for September, partnering with the Goldsboro YMCA to gather non-perishable food items for local families in need.

The month-long food drive represents a collaborative effort between the church and the YMCA to address food insecurity in the Goldsboro area. Community members are encouraged to donate canned goods, boxed meals, and other shelf-stable food items throughout September.

In addition to the food collection campaign, Peace Lutheran Church will host two special events on August 31st. The congregation has designated the date as both “Step Up Sunday” and “Bring a Friend to Church” Sunday, encouraging members to invite newcomers to join their worship service.

The church’s Step Up Sunday initiative aims to engage congregants in taking active roles within the church community, while the “Bring a Friend” component seeks to welcome new visitors and potentially expand the congregation.
