GOLDSBORO, N.C. — An 18-year-old Goldsboro woman has been charged with seven felony counts of disclosing private images of an adult following an investigation that began with a complaint from a U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune.
Nevaeh Veronica Moses was arrested and charged after the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into allegations that nude images of a Marine were distributed via Instagram to multiple contacts without consent.
According to information provided by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) at Camp Lejeune, the Marine had traveled to Goldsboro to meet Moses, whom he had connected with through social media. The two individuals went on two dates before becoming involved in what authorities described as a “heated argument.”
Following the dispute, nude images of the Marine were allegedly sent through Instagram to several of his contacts, prompting the military investigation that was subsequently turned over to local authorities.
During the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigation, Moses reportedly admitted to the charges against her. She has been released on a $25,000 unsecured bond.
The charges fall under North Carolina’s laws prohibiting the non-consensual distribution of private intimate images, commonly referred to as “revenge porn” legislation. Each of the seven felony counts Moses faces carries potential penalties including prison time and fines.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about digital privacy and the criminal consequences of sharing intimate images without consent, particularly in the context of personal disputes and failed relationships.
The investigation involved cooperation between military and civilian law enforcement agencies. No additional details about the case have been released at this time.
Moses is scheduled to appear in Wayne County court at a date to be determined.
