Mother Elizabeth Parks Mitchell, 79, of LaGrange, NC passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beacon of faith, love, and unwavering support to her family and church.

Mother Elizabeth Parks Mitchell was born on September 12, 1945, in Pikeville, NC to the late Bishop John Earl Parks and Louise Virginia Parks (Leftdwrige). From a young age, she learned to sing and play the piano. She learned to praise the Lord, while developing the faith that strengthened her throughout her life. 

Being the first person in her immediate family to graduate high school, she was a proud alumna of Central Heights High School in Goldsboro, NC.

On September 12, 1963, Mother Mitchell married the love of her life, Nathaniel Mitchell Jr. Their union was a testament to enduring love that prevailed over 60 years. Elizabeth and Nathaniel nurtured six children: Bishop Michael E. Mitchell (Carolyn) of Goldsboro, NC; Bertha Denise Mitchell of LaGrange, NC; Barbara Mitchell of Dudley, NC; Christie Mitchell of LaGrange, NC; LaToya Carlton( Larry) and one son, Quentin Mitchell (Lakiasha), preceded in death. Elizabeth cherished her role as a mother and grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Coleta (Milton), Lakisha, Kimberly, Quanterrian (Kizzie), Andray, Iyon, Quavion, Markeya, Mikial (Terricka), Quentin, Naquinsha, Takeba, Ti”Erika,. Although with her eighteen great-grandchildren, she poured her endless love and strength into the lives of her family.

Mother Mitchell was ordained as a mother of the church at Save the Family Church Ministries. For decades, she served tirelessly, embodying the spirit of Christian love and service. She was actively involved in church activities, such as singing in the choir and playing the piano when led by the Holy Spirit. Mother Mitchell was a faithful and gracious woman of God, full of meekness. She was known for offering a comforting word, a warm meal, or a listening ear. Her home was often an open door, a place of solace and fellowship for many. She enjoyed shopping for antique artifacts and reading her Bible. She also found immense joy in sharing her faith and nurturing her family. 

Mother Mitchell was blessed to have three sister-in-laws, four brother-in-laws, and a host of cherished nieces, cousins, and friends. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire generations. May she rest in eternal peace.
