Ruby Pate Forrest

July 24, 2025, 79, Goldsboro —

Ruby Pate Forrest, 79, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at UNC Health in Chapel Hill. Born in Wayne County on March 4, 1946, Ruby was the daughter of the late Floyd Patrick Pate and Bobbie Gregory Boyce. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Margaret Scott “Scottie” Grantham.

Ruby lived a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering faith. She devoted her professional life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Cherry Hospital, where she served faithfully until her retirement. Her nurturing spirit extended well beyond the workplace, especially through her involvement in her church and community.

A dedicated member of Saulston Community Church, Ruby poured her heart into ministries such as Vacation Bible School, Methodist Women, and Meals on Wheels. Whether through a warm meal, a kind word, or a helping hand, Ruby truly exemplified what it meant to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

While she was passionate about serving others, Ruby’s greatest joy was found in her family. She cherished her role as a devoted wife, loving mama, and proud grandma. Her presence brought warmth, comfort, and unconditional love to those she held dear.

A graveside service will be held in the mausoleum chapel at Wayne Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Severt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Ruby is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Bobby Forrest; her son, Timothy Lee Forrest and wife, Holly; her treasured granddaughter, Taylor Lynn Forrest; her sister, Mary Frances Pate; and her brother, Walter Floyd “Porky” Pate and wife, Joy.
