ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The IGA and Outreach team made a significant impact in the Asheville community this week through strategic partnerships with two prominent local service organizations, focusing their efforts on affordable housing construction and disaster preparedness initiatives.
The team dedicated their time to working with Habitat for Humanity, joining seasoned volunteers in the construction of affordable housing units designed to serve families in need throughout the region. The collaborative effort represents part of a broader commitment to addressing housing accessibility challenges facing local communities.
In partnership with Hearts with Hands, the volunteers assembled “Boxes of Hope” — comprehensive disaster relief kits containing essential supplies strategically prepared for distribution to communities affected by natural disasters. These emergency preparedness packages serve as critical resources for rapid response during crisis situations.
The initiative brought together representatives from multiple organizations, including the Legal and Policy teams, VolunteerNC, and the North Carolina Board of Certified Evaluators (NCBCE), creating a unified approach to community service across professional sectors.
Team representatives emphasized that volunteering serves as the mechanism for translating organizational care into meaningful action, highlighting the tangible impact of converting institutional values into direct community engagement.
The Asheville volunteer effort demonstrates how cross-sector collaboration can amplify community service impact, addressing both immediate housing needs and long-term disaster preparedness goals through coordinated civic engagement.
