Freddie Hudson, Jr.

Freddie Hudson, Jr.

July 16, 2025, 58, Goldsboro —

Frederick “Freddie” Earl Hudson, Jr, 58, passed away at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Carteret County on September 27, 1966, he was the son of the late Frederick Earl Hudson, Sr. and Sandra Forbes Mayo.

Freddie is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Holland Hudson; children, Jordan Avery and husband, Robert, Eric Hudson and wife, Kayla, Brianna Stewart and husband, Nathan, and Blake Capps and fiancée, Lauren Surface; grandchildren, Jason Avery, Sadie Yow, and Asher Stewart; brother, Greg Hudson; and mother-in-law, Roseitta Holland. Freddie is also survived by a host of work friends and loyal customers that he considered family.

Freddie was a skilled woodworker, a gift he learned from an early age under the guidance of his father. He could build anything — from finely-crafted dining room tables to beautiful wooden crosses — and his heart always guided his hands to bless others. Whether it was a custom piece for a neighbor, a repair for a friend, or a thoughtful gift for someone in need, Freddie never hesitated to share his time and his talent.

Known for his selflessness, Freddie was the kind of man who always put others first. He was the one who checked in, who showed up, who gave without asking anything in return. His quiet wisdom and steady presence brought comfort to many, and his loyalty and compassion left a permanent mark on all who knew him.

Freddie served Johnston County as a water and sewer advisor to the County Commissioners. His depth of knowledge, particularly in pump systems, made him a trusted voice in the field. As a pump salesman, he was not only respected for his expertise but also admired for his honesty, intelligence, and dedication.

He was also a true lover of great food — a proud foodie who never passed up a good meal and always appreciated the joy of gathering around the table. But perhaps nothing brought him more consistent happiness than the companionship of his beloved dogs, who were always close by his side.

Freddie’s life was a testament to the power of humility, craftsmanship, service, and love. He built more tables and crosses — he built relationships, community, and trust. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and care that will live on in the lives of those he touched.

A service to celebrate Freddie’s life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Freddie will be laid to rest in Kenly Cemetery immediately following the service.

Flowers are welcomed, or memorials may be sent to the V Foundation 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513 in memory of Freddie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kenly Funeral Service
