Delta Sigma Theta Partners with Livingstone College to Offer $1.5 Million in Scholarships to Wayne County Students

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated made history by organizing the first scholarship opportunities for Wayne County students interested in attending Livingstone College during the institution’s ten-city recruitment tour in Eastern North Carolina.

Multi-Organization Collaboration Creates Educational Bridge

The groundbreaking initiative resulted from a collaboration between the Goldsboro Alumnae Chapter, Wayne County Department of Social Services, Wayne County Public Schools, and Livingstone College. This partnership aimed to connect local students with higher education opportunities and financial support.

Sixty Students Participate in Scholarship Event

The historic college tour welcomed 60 juniors and seniors interested in pursuing higher education. Livingstone College President Dr. Anthony J. Davis and recruitment leaders engaged directly with the students, providing insights into college life and academic opportunities.

Over $1.5 Million in Scholarships Available

The event offered substantial financial assistance to qualifying students, including:

  • Full-ride Presidential scholarships for students maintaining a 3.6 GPA
  • Specialized scholarships for students aging out of the foster care system
  • Athletic scholarships for student-athletes
  • Honors scholarships for academic achievers
  • Board of trustee scholarships

Students had the unique opportunity to meet personally with Dr. Anthony J. Davis, President of Livingstone College, along with other college representatives. The officials highlighted the institution’s rich history and detailed the various scholarship opportunities available to prospective students.

The event was held at Goldsboro High School and featured Dr. Anthony J. Davis, President of Livingstone College, Dr. Yvette Smith Mason, President of the Goldsboro Alumnae Chapter, along with additional members from the Goldsboro Alumnae Chapter, Wayne County Public Schools, and Livingstone College.
