PIKEVILLE, NC – The Pikeville Police Department arrested multiple individuals on charges ranging from impaired driving to drug possession during a coordinated enforcement campaign over the Independence Day weekend.
The department participated in “Operation Firecracker – Booze It & Lose It,” a statewide initiative supported by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program aimed at reducing impaired driving during one of the year’s busiest travel periods.
Multiple Arrests Made During Enhanced Enforcement
Officers conducted numerous traffic stops throughout the extended holiday weekend, resulting in arrests for:
- Driving While Impaired (DWI) offenses
- Outstanding misdemeanor and felony warrants
- Misdemeanor and felony drug charges, including possession of illegal narcotics
The arrested individuals came from various jurisdictions beyond Pikeville, highlighting the regional scope of the enforcement effort.
Police Chief Emphasizes Zero Tolerance Policy
“Our department welcomes all who wish to visit and enjoy the Pikeville community,” said Police Chief Rodney Jarman. “However, we have zero tolerance for criminal activity, especially when it endangers the safety and well-being of the residents who proudly call this town home.”
Jarman emphasized that impaired driving, drug possession, and fugitive offenses will not be tolerated within the community.

In addition to the arrests, officers issued citations for various traffic violations during the campaign:
- Expired Registration: 6 citations
- Equipment Violations: 3 citations
- Tint Violations: 2 citations
- Fictitious Registration: 3 citations
- Failure to Maintain Lane: 1 citation
- Turn Signal Violations: 1 citation
- Driving While License Revoked: 4 citations
- Registration Violations: 1 citation
