Wayne County Government Offices and Services to Close for Independence Day Holiday

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Wayne County, North Carolina, will observe Independence Day with temporary closures of government offices and public services on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Government Operations Suspended Friday

Wayne County government offices will close for the Independence Day holiday and resume normal operations on Monday, July 7, 2025. The closure affects all county administrative functions and services typically available during regular business hours.

Public Services Affected by Holiday Schedule

Library System

All Wayne County Public Library branches will be closed Friday in observance of the federal holiday. Library patrons can resume accessing services and materials when branches reopen Monday with regular operating hours.

Senior Services

The Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center will suspend operations Friday and return to normal programming Monday. Senior center participants should plan accordingly for the temporary service interruption.

Waste Management Services

Wayne County’s landfill and convenience centers will be closed Friday, creating a brief disruption in waste disposal services. These facilities will resume operations Saturday with regular hours, providing residents an alternative for waste disposal needs over the holiday weekend.

Animal Services

The Wayne County Animal Shelter will close Friday and reopen Monday for regular business hours. Pet adoption services and other animal control functions will resume normal operations at the start of the following week.
