Lonnie Rouse, 88, of Dudley, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 25 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Nina Gayle Stroud Rouse; a son and daughter in law, Robert Rouse and Deborah of Seven Springs; grandchildren, Bryant Rouse, and Ben Rouse and wife Casey of Seven Springs; great-grandchildren, Spenser Kate Rouse, Evie Rouse, Ridge Rouse, Cannon Rouse, and Leah Rouse; and a brother, Perry Barwick and his wife Bettye.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; Edward Earl and Virginia Rouse Barwick; a brother, Edward Rouse; and sisters, Georgia Lee Grady, and Patsy Rouse.
Lonnie was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro for 60 years. He served as Usher there for the majority of his time, and was always present and involved in the worship services. He and Mrs. Nina also had owned and operated Rouse’s Mini Mart in the Seven Springs community for several years following his long career as a delivery truck driver with Sears Retail Store in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Pastor Christian Powell will officiate the service along with Pastor Walter Sloan, and Pastor Dan Patrick. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service beginning at 1pm., and at other times at his home in Dudley.
