Linda Lancaster Hamlett

Linda Lancaster Hamlett

June 28, 2025, 78, Goldsboro —-

Linda Lancaster Hamlett, 78, a devoted servant of the Lord, was welcomed into her eternal home in Heaven early Saturday morning. Born in Wayne County on January 29, 1947, Linda was the daughter of the late Johnnie Wilbert Lancaster and Inez Edmundson Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Hamlett, Jr.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Linda lived her life as a testimony to the goodness and grace of Jesus Christ. She retired from Wayne County Public Schools after 30 years of dedicated service as a secretary, but her life’s true work was loving others as Christ loves us.

Linda will be remembered for her compassionate heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for people. She never met a stranger and saw everyone as a child of God. Her warmth and hospitality were reflections of the love of Christ that dwelled so richly within her.

Linda was a pillar of her family, and she especially cherished times when she could gather her loved ones around the table she so joyfully prepared. Her cooking was an expression of her care, and her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of love and fellowship.

Linda was a devoted and active member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, where she found deep joy in worshiping alongside her church family. Whether lifting her voice in praise, serving on the bereavement committee, or comforting grieving families with her beloved homemade dishes, Linda’s heart was always dedicated to serving in the name of Jesus. For many years, she faithfully taught Sunday School and served as treasurer of the church’s Ladies Auxiliary, continuing her ministry until her health began to decline.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Linda’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ronnie Weaver and Pastor Dane Williford officiating. Interment will be on Friday, July 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Eureka Cemetery.

She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Denise and David Bray; her cherished grandson, William Cameron Saunders; and a number of dear cousins whom she loved deeply.

Linda’s life was a shining light of Christian love, and while her presence will be missed here on earth, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:21
