Two Men Hospitalized After Early Morning Shooting in Goldsboro

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Two men were hospitalized early Sunday morning after a shooting incident that resulted in a vehicle crash behind the Waffle House on Berkeley Boulevard, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.

Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:10 a.m. on June 29, 2025. Upon arrival, officers discovered an overturned vehicle in the woods behind the restaurant, with one male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound still inside.

Multiple Victims Flee Scene

Officers received two separate emergency calls from additional victims who had been inside the vehicle during the incident. These individuals fled through the woods after the vehicle overturned, police said.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Jondre Spencer Jr. of Goldsboro, was initially transported to UNC Health Wayne before being transferred to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment. A second victim, 21-year-old Jakoree Harper, also of Goldsboro, is receiving treatment at UNC Health Wayne.

Investigation Ongoing

The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau has taken over the case and is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials stated that the investigation is still in its early stages and continues to develop.

No arrests have been announced at this time, and police have not released information about potential suspects or motives.
