The CALM Event provided attendees with direct access to information about healthcare, disability services, mental health resources, and addiction recovery programs. NC Department of Health and Human Services Offers Multi-Tiered Assistance
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services participated with representatives from three key service areas:
Children’s Services provided information about healthcare, financial assistance, and nutrition programs for children requiring additional support. The department helps families find childcare providers, understand child support services, and ensure newborns receive proper care regardless of financial circumstances.
Disability Services focused on employment assistance, care provider connections, and access to assistive technology that enables individuals with disabilities to maintain independent living.
Low-Income Services offered guidance on accessing healthcare, childcare, housing, financial assistance, and nutrition programs. These services range from temporary support to long-term assistance programs.

Simmons Early Intervention Therapy showcased their comprehensive children’s developmental services, including fine and gross motor skills development, social and emotional growth support, and problem-solving skill enhancement. Trillium Health Resources Covers Extensive Geographic Area
Trillium Health Resources representatives explained their oversight of mental health, substance use, and intellectual/developmental disability services across 46 North Carolina counties. The organization manages state and federally funded services, with Medicaid recipients also receiving physical health and pharmacy benefits.
Independent Living and Recovery Housing Options
NC Oxford Houses presented their democratic, self-supporting approach to drug and alcohol addiction recovery. The Oxford House model emphasizes drug-free living environments with resident-run governance structures.
Established Mental Health Services Provider
Pride in North Carolina Mental Health Services, founded in 1988, demonstrated their evolution from children’s residential services to comprehensive community-based care. The organization has maintained national accreditation through CARF since 2011 and provides evidence-based treatment services for both children and adults.
