GOLDSBORO, N.C. — On Saturday, July 12 at 5:00 p.m., the Paramount Theatre in Downtown Goldsboro will come alive with style, history, and community spirit as Norwayne Alumni and Friends, Inc. presents “Culture Served, Era Swerved,” a signature fundraising event in support of student scholarships and local outreach initiatives.

Founded in 1972 by graduates of Norwayne High School—which served the Northern Wayne area until its closure in 1970—Norwayne Alumni and Friends has been a driving force in education-focused philanthropy for over 50 years. The organization was established by alumni from the classes of 1959 to 1970, united by a shared commitment to uplifting future generations through the power of education.

Over the decades, Norwayne Alumni and Friends, Inc. has awarded more than 500 scholarships to deserving students in the Northern Wayne community and beyond. The group remains deeply rooted in service, continually “planting mustard seeds” through its scholarship fund and various community outreach efforts.

This year’s event, “Culture Served, Era Swerved,” promises to be a vibrant celebration of legacy, fashion, and purpose—highlighting the enduring impact of Norwayne High School alumni and their dedication to education and community building.
