GOLDSBORO, N.C. — District 4 was buzzing with excitement over the weekend as Councilwoman Brandi Matthews hosted the lively “UNO & Uplift” event at the W.A. Foster Recreation Center, bringing neighbors together for a day full of connection, laughter, and competitive fun.
The gathering was a resounding success, featuring everything from classic UNO gameplay and upbeat music to snacks, drinks, and vibrant community vibes. Attendees competed for door prizes throughout the day, with a grand cash prize awaiting the ultimate champion at the winner’s table.
The event wasn’t just about games—it was about community. Residents of all ages came together to enjoy fellowship, relax, and uplift one another in a joyful and welcoming environment.
Those who missed it may still get a second chance, as there’s talk of bringing the event back for another round.
UNO & Uplift is just one of several community-focused initiatives Councilwoman Matthews is planning. Coming this July is Swim with the Councilwoman, an event where 100 pool tickets will be provided so local kids can swim for free and enjoy a full day of summer fun.
With events like these, Councilwoman Matthews continues to strengthen bonds and create memorable experiences for families in District 4.
