Pikeville, N.C. — A 17-year-old male is facing multiple felony charges following a series of incidents involving vehicle theft, attempted break-ins, and a high-speed pursuit through Wayne County towns on Saturday.
Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Kenison Way area in Pikeville after receiving reports of individuals attempting to break into motor vehicles. During the search, law enforcement discovered a stolen vehicle on nearby Mutton Drive. Although the vehicle was initially unoccupied, deputies continued to patrol the area in search of the suspects.
Shortly after, the suspects returned to the stolen vehicle and attempted to flee. Deputies engaged in a pursuit as the vehicle sped through Pikeville and into the Town of Fremont. The chase ended on Jenkins Street in Fremont, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Deputies pursued and apprehended the driver, who was identified as a 17-year-old male. Due to the nature of the charges, including violations under North Carolina Chapter 20, the juvenile was charged as an adult.
The individual was taken into custody and transported to the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center. He received a $10,000 secured bond.

Juvenile Petitions Filed:
- 3 counts of (F) Attempted Breaking and Entering to Motor Vehicle
- (F) Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- (F) Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
- (M) Possession of a Handgun by a Minor
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out additional arrests.
