John Edward Frantz, 74, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at his home. Born in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, he was son to the late John William Frantz and Betty Sadie Bittner Frantz.
John is survived by his loving wife, Karene Whaley Frantz; his daughter, Anna Frantz Heron and husband, Joseph William; his grandchildren, Grace, Charles, and Lucy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Karen F. Griesbach and her husband, H. Robert Griesbach.
John was a professional musician and composer for many years. A violinist in the Mississippi Symphony for 17 years and a dedicated church organist and professor for decades in Mississippi, South Carolina, and North Carolina. He was an admirer of C.S. Lewis, Martin Luther and church history, and the Three Stooges.
John’s earthly body will be put to rest with the promise of the coming resurrection, as his Baptism is completed with his burial. The rite for Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will conclude at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton at 4:00 p.m.
