Charlotte McBarron Malpass

 June 18, 2025, 80, Goldsboro —

Charlotte McBarron Malpass, 80, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by love. Born in Wayne County on August 19, 1944, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Frank McBarron and Hilda Jones Hare. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Charlie James Malpass, her sister, Ramona Taylor; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Emma Williford and Linda Rose.

Charlotte dedicated many years of service to the medical field, first with Goldsboro Orthopedics and later retiring from Waynesborough Ophthalmology. She was known for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and gentle demeanor.

A woman of unwavering faith, Charlotte was a devoted member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Her church family was deeply important to her, and her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life.

Charlotte found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished her time at the beach, where the sound of the waves brought her peace. She had a gift for gardening and delighted in tending her flowers. A lifelong reader, Charlotte treasured getting lost in a good book and the worlds it opened to her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Michele M. Cotton and Jennifer Malpass (Rachael); grandchildren, Morgan Cotton (Ashley) and Anna Cotton (Johnathan); sisters, Janet Hamm and Debbie Kennedy; brothers, GBo McBarron and Ricky Hare; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also leaves behind her cherished canine companions, J.J., Tucker, Brodie and Dallas.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Charlotte’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. A graveside committal will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to 3HC in Goldsboro for their compassionate care, with special thanks to Charlotte’s hospice nurses, Erica Tillman and Sarah Kelly, for their tender support and presence during her final days.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made in Charlotte’s memory to 3HC or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Arrangements are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
