GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Thursday evening on Hugh Street, resulting in serious injuries to a local man and the arrest of a suspect.
Incident Details
At approximately 7:37 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Hugh Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 32-year-old James Joyner, was immediately transported to UNC Health Wayne for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later flown to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for specialized care.
Suspect Detained and Arrested
Responding officers quickly located and detained a potential suspect near the scene. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division was called to lead the ongoing investigation. As a result of their efforts, 30-year-old Tiyez Dudley was taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. Dudley is currently held without bond at Wayne County Jail.
