June 3, 2025, 66, Goldsboro —
Steve Arthur Hart, 66, of La Grange entered into the presence of the Lord at Wayne UNC Health Care with his family by his side on June 03, 2025. He is now rejoicing, singing and playing gospel music with his family members already waiting for him in Heaven.
A native of Greene County, Steve was born on December 21, 1958 to J. B. Hart, Jr. and Bettie Arthur Mooring Hart earning his place as Baby #6 in their family. As time went on and Steve’s God-given talent of singing was discovered, he quickly relinquished his #6 spot and all of his siblings born before and after him quickly became known as Steve Hart’s brothers and Steve Hart’s sisters. Around the tender age of five, Steve joined his family, The Singing Hart Family, as they ministered God’s Word in song. They made five gospel albums and sang in concerts with such groups as The Happy Goodmans and The Rambos, all the while traveling from church to church every weekend. This continued for many, many years.
Under the direction of Greene Central High School’s music director, Kenneth Ginn and around the age of nine, Steve acted and sang in the high school’s musical, “Oliver”, being the youngest cast member. He later became a member of Greene Central’s Ramblers and after high school Joined the Lenoir Community College Troubadours, again under the direction of Kenneth Ginn. All of this was teaching Steve a valuable lesson that even with God-given talents, they require dedication.
Steve worked in construction most of his life as a glass glazier and later was in business for himself in roofing and home improvement.
Steve returned to his gospel roots by joining his sisters, Terry and Jean and brother, Michael forming the group Renewed Harts. For fifteen years, he sang and sometimes emceed each Tuesday night on WHFL-TV 43.1 on Message of New Beginnings hosted by Janice and Kenneth Myers. He and Mrs. Janice shared a close bond because she followed Steve’s ministry as a child and presented him with this opportunity to further his ministry for the Lord.
Steve was a member of Goldsboro PFWB Church. Under the ministry of Pastor Elbert Hollowell, he became a deacon of the church. Under the ministry of Pastor Chrystal Hart in 2022, he became their head deacon. There he shared his musical talents as well as his home improvement skills to attend to the needs of his church. He loved his church family.
Steve is survived by his siblings: Kay H. Quinn (Doug), Ricky G. Hart (Randy), Peggy H. Chase (Dennis), Sherry H. Arnette, Terry H. Wilson, and Christy A. Hart; sister-in laws: Sharon H. Hart and Chrystal S. Hart; brother-in-law: Harold Harper; special christian companion, Leda Ann Colie; special uncle, Envid Hill; longtime special friend, Mary Deal Morgan and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved dearly. Steve loved spending time with them and some considered him to be a father figure.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth D. Hart and Michael R. Hart, sister, Jean H. Harper and special baby nephews Greylin Arnette and Cameron Chase.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday evening, June 9at 7:00 pm at Patetown Church of God located at 215 Church of God Road with Rev. Chrystal Hart, Rev. Dan Millard and Rev. Marvin Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home of Sherry H. Arnette at 103 Mandarin Drive, Pikevile, NC 27863.
