Social Security Administration Reaffirms Commitment to Accessibility and Non-Discrimination

Washington, D.C. — The Social Security Administration (SSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring equal access to its programs, services, and facilities for all individuals—particularly those with disabilities—under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The agency also underscores its ongoing efforts to prevent discrimination on the basis of disability, race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, or retaliation, such as for filing a prior complaint.

In accordance with federal civil rights laws, SSA has long provided avenues for the public to request accommodations and to file complaints if they believe they have experienced discrimination in connection with SSA’s programs or activities.
