Pikeville, N.C. — Over the Memorial Day weekend, the Pikeville Police Department ramped up patrols with a concentrated focus on traffic safety and impaired driving enforcement. These heightened efforts led to several significant arrests, including individuals charged with Driving While Impaired (DWI), felony offenses, and outstanding warrants.
“I commend the diligent work of our officers who remained highly visible and vigilant during this holiday weekend,” said Police Chief Rodney Jarman. “Their commitment to public safety and proactive traffic enforcement played a critical role in removing dangerous individuals from our streets.”
Weekend Arrest Highlights:
- Multiple DWI Arrests: Several drivers were taken into custody for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs, posing immediate threats to public safety.
- Felony Arrests: Individuals were arrested on felony charges, including drug possession and weapons offenses.
- Drug-Related Charges: Officers filed multiple charges related to illegal drug activity and possession.
- Wanted Persons Located: Routine traffic stops and investigative follow-ups led to the arrest of individuals with outstanding warrants, including fugitives wanted for felony crimes.
“These arrests are a direct result of the department’s focused efforts to identify unsafe driving behaviors and use those interactions as opportunities to detect further criminal activity,” said Chief Jarman. “Our officers’ proactive approach—stopping traffic violators, investigating suspicious behavior, and conducting thorough field interviews—led directly to these arrests. This weekend’s success highlights our ongoing commitment to keeping the community safe, especially during high-travel periods.”

- Expired Registration: 9
- Traffic Control Violation: 2
- No Insurance: 2
- Equipment Violation: 4
- Tint Violation: 7
- Fictitious Registration: 3
- Failure to Maintain Lane: 5
- Turn Signal Violation: 1
- No Operator’s License: 3
- Driving While License Revoked: 3
