May 11, 2025, 80, Goldsboro —

Anne Dean Farmer, age 80, went to be with her Lord on Mother’s Day, surrounded by the love of her family at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on May 4, 1945, Anne was the daughter of the late Albert Wesley Dean and Mary Elizabeth Holland Dean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Kenneth Hooks Farmer, and her cherished grandson, Fred Lee (Matt) Matthews, III.

Anne was a graduate of Fuquay-Varina High School and went on to attend Troutman’s Beauty College in Raleigh. She later became a dedicated and valued employee of Bussman in Goldsboro, where she worked for many years.

Anne’s greatest devotion was to her faith. For over 30 years, she faithfully served as overseer of the House of Fordham in Goldsboro, a ministry that was her heart and soul. Alongside her dearest friend, Linda Burroughs, Anne shared the love and light of Christ with all who crossed her path. Her passion for reaching others for the Kingdom of God left a lasting impact on countless lives in the community.

Family was the center of Anne’s world. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply.

Anne is survived by her children: Kenneth Christopher Farmer and wife Angela, Tonja Matthews Singleton and husband Mike, Fred Lee Matthews, Jr. and wife Robin, and Nicole Farmer Carter. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Krissen, Christopher, Zachary, Michaela, Hope, Charity, Josh, Brice, Cole, Kyle, Collin, and Miles; and her great-grandchildren: Layla, Annabelle, Declan, Silas, Judah, Adison, Bryleigh, Jose, Easton, and Wyatt.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Anne’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Rev. Linda Burroughs officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
