A Proud Farewell: Wayne County Honors the Class of 2025 in Milestone Graduation Season

Goldsboro, N.C. – (May 20) — Graduation season is officially underway in Wayne County, as Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS) prepares to celebrate the achievements of more than 1,175 graduating seniors across its high schools.

This week, the district’s Non-Traditional Calendar schoolsWayne School of Engineering and Wayne Early/Middle College High School — will take the lead, with a combined 103 graduates earning their diplomas.

In June, the focus shifts to WCPS’s seven traditional calendar high schools, where an additional 1,075 seniors are set to walk across the stage in front of proud families, friends, and school staff. Among them is a historic milestone for the district: Wayne School of Technical Arts, the newest addition to the WCPS family and the only public high school in North Carolina located on a U.S. military installation, will graduate its inaugural class of 15 seniors.

“While there are many milestones that are celebrated over the course of a student’s academic career, there is nothing more exciting to our students, families, and school communities than our high school graduations,” said Dr. Marc Whichard, Superintendent of Wayne County Public Schools. “Earning a high school diploma positions students for greater success in life and in their next steps as they move on to college, the military, or the workforce. On behalf of our Board of Education and Wayne County Public Schools, we congratulate all of our graduating seniors and wish them continued success in all that they do.”

Graduation ceremonies not only mark the academic accomplishments of students but also reflect the dedicated efforts of the district’s educators, staff, families, and community partners. From classroom teachers and counselors to club advisors and volunteers, countless individuals have contributed to the journey that brought these students to this culminating moment.
