Wayne County, N.C. – ( May 12) — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has charged a 19-year-old man in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins reported on the northern end of the county late last month.
On April 29th, 2025, deputies received multiple reports from residents who discovered their vehicles had been broken into overnight. Victims reported that various personal items and electronics had been stolen.
Following a thorough investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Melik Graves, 19, of Wayne County, was identified as a suspect. Authorities gathered sufficient evidence linking Graves to the crimes and subsequently issued warrants for his arrest.
Graves, described as a Black male, has been formally charged with the following offenses:
- Two counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle
- One count of Obtaining Property by False Pretense
He was taken into custody and is currently being held under a $7,500 secured bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has not ruled out the possibility of additional suspects or charges as the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are encouraging anyone with further information about the incidents to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
