Mr. James Thomas Ham Sr., 84, completed his earthly journey and transitioned from labor to reward, Friday, May 2, 2025. The celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm with viewing from 12:00 pm to 12:50 pm at Saints Delight United Holy Church, 976 La Grange Rd, La Grange, NC. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange, NC. On Friday, May 9, 2025, there will be a public viewing from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive Goldsboro, NC.
James Thomas Ham Sr. was born in Wayne County, North Carolina to James and Mary (Parks) Ham. He was a member of Frink High School’s Class of 1959 and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Following the completion of his military service, James Thomas Ham Sr. explored the trade of masonry. His initial employment experience was as a contractor and later he took on roles as a production manager for several companies and an educator at the county and high school levels. Ultimately, he became renowned as a skilled expert with longevity and an unwavering commitment to precision and excellence in masonry. He also was a lifelong member of Saints Delight United Holy Church, serving in various capacities, including long-term service on the Board of Trustees.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Daisy Lee Ham (Best); three sons: James T. Ham Jr., Brian “Jody” Ham (JaWanda) and Kevin A. Ham; four grandchildren: Jodi, Anthony, Jade and Jasmine Ham; a sister, Jacqueline (Dennis) Whitfield; a brother, Reverend Walter “Bro Ham” Gordon; two brothers-in-law: Johnny Best (Ann) and Marion Best (Margarie); five sisters-in-law: Rachel Ham, Sylvia Shine, Phyllis Moore, Francis Best and Mary Newkirk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James Thomas Ham Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Ham, and two brothers: Elijah Ham and Jonah L. Ham Sr.
