Wayne County, N.C. — A routine traffic stop on May 1, 2025, led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man on multiple drug-related charges, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Patrick Lawrance, a white male, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lawrance is currently being held at the Wayne County Jail without bond.
The stop was conducted by DWI Task Force Corporal K. Campbell, with assistance from the DWI Task Force and Patrol C-Shift. Deputies initiated the traffic stop for a Chapter 20 violation (related to motor vehicle laws).
Following the stop, a K9 unit was called in, and the dog conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle. The K9 positively alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting a probable cause search of the vehicle. Deputies discovered illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside.
Lawrance was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wayne County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
