“Wings Over Wayne” Air Show Soars Back to Goldsboro This Weekend Thousands Expected for NC’s Largest Free Air Show at Seymour Johnson AFB

Goldsboro, NC – (April 30) — The skies over Goldsboro are about to come alive as the popular “Wings Over Wayne” air show returns to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base this weekend, May 3-4. Drawing more than 200,000 spectators from across North Carolina and beyond, the biennial event is the state’s largest free air show and a major attraction for aviation enthusiasts of all ages.

Headlining this year’s event are the renowned U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, who will perform high-flying maneuvers as part of the air show’s main attraction, running daily from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. each day.

Visitors can expect a full lineup of aerial demonstrations, interactive static aircraft displays, food and beverage vendors, souvenir booths, and family-friendly activities.

What to Know Before You Go

This year marks a few changes and reminders for attendees:

  • Cashless Event: For the first time, Wings Over Wayne will operate as a completely cashless event. All major credit/debit cards and mobile tap-to-pay options (Apple Pay, Google Pay) will be accepted. Venmo, Cash App, and physical cash will not be accepted.
  • Free Entry and Parking: General admission and parking remain free. However, a limited number of paid seating options are available for those seeking a premium view. Paid ticket holders should bring proof of purchase.
  • Security Measures: Attendees should expect full security screenings, including metal detectors at all entrances. Visitors are encouraged to check the event website in advance for a list of allowed and prohibited items.
  • Alcohol Policy: Valid photo ID is required for alcohol purchases on-site.
  • Follow for Updates: For the latest information on traffic, weather conditions, and show updates, follow Wings Over Wayne on Facebook and Instagram.

With such a large crowd expected, local officials are preparing for significant traffic near the base and throughout the city.
