NC Hospitals Rated #1 For Safety; Wayne UNC Gets “A”

According to a report released today from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, North Carolina ranks #1 in the nation for hospital safety. Nearly 3,000 hospitals were given a letter grade based on 30 different elements of patient safety. North Carolina’s high score came from the 60% of N.C. hospitals that scored A’s.

According to the report Wayne UNC Health Care received it’s second “A”. Prior to the consecutive “A” grades of Fall 2021 and Spring 2022, the hospital had earned a grade of “B” since 2019. Wayne UNC joins only 33% of the nearly 3,000 hospitals in the U. S. that earned this highest patient safety grade. The letter grade distribution for the remaining U. S. hospitals are: 24% received a “B”, 36% received a “C”, 7% received a “D”, and the remaining less than 1% received a grade of “F”.
