Softball: North Duplin Represented On All-state Softball Team

Several North Duplin softball players were recently named to the 2021 North Carolina All-State softball team by the N.C. Softball Coaches Association.

All-state players are nominated by their coaches and then voted on by coaches across the state.

The Rebels’ Skylar Craig, Riley Hatch, Logan Taylor Jones, Kasey Jones, Hannah Martin, Reece Outlaw and Callie Thornton were all named to the 1A all-state team.

Craig, Hatch, Logan Taylor Jones, Kasey Jones, Outlaw, Martin and Thornton were also named to the NCBCA All-District 2 team.

As a team, North Duplin had a .454 batting average, a .569 on-base percentage, and 128 RBIs and hit four home runs. Craig, Hatch, Logan Taylor Jones, Kasey Jones, Outlaw, Martin and Thornton all had batting averages over .400.

A Coker University commit, Thornton was named the East 1A Pitcher of the Year and the District 2 pitcher of the year. She had a team-high .644 batting average. The Rebels starting pitcher also had a 12-1 record, a 0.79 earned run average, pitched 13 complete games, and threw 123 strikeouts.

North Duplin had a 12-1 overall record, went 10-0 in the Carolina 1A Conference, won the Carolina 1A Conference title, and reached the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A playoffs.
