Susie Whitfield Sauls, 80, was called home on Saturday, May 29, 2021 to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord. Susie was born in Wayne County to the late William and Betty Pittman Whitfield on September 26, 1940. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian H. Sauls; brothers, Norwood Whitfield and Carlton Whitfield; and sister, Hazel Evans.

Susie enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends. She was a valued employee of First Citizens Bank in Goldsboro for many years. Her life was filled with humility, kindness, and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. Following her retirement and caring for her husband, Susie began working in sales at Belk in Goldsboro where she enjoyed connecting with others.

Susie was an amazing mother and grandmother. Anyone who knew her knew she could make friends with anyone and was a kind, and loving person to all she met. Susie was blessed to have so many loyal life-long friends to share wonderful memories and experiences with over the years. Though Susie accomplished so much and blessed so many people in countless ways, she would probably say her greatest accomplishment surely would be her son.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Susie’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Kenneth Boyd officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 in the Eureka Cemetery.

Susie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Rita Sauls of Wilson; grandchildren, Aurie Sauls and Blaine Sauls; brother, Bobby Whitfield; and sister, Jean Rollins.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to Aycock’s Primitive Baptist Church, in care of Gray Sauls, 810 Reidtown Road, Fremont, NC 27830.
