Elsie Hussey Cauley

Elsie Hussey Cauley

May 30, 2021, 93, Seven Springs –

Elsie Hussey Cauley spent her final days with her granddaughter by her side, and peacefully passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was born in Lenoir County to the late Wilbur Hussey and Cornelia Rouse Hussey on December 8, 1927. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Thomas Cauley; her daughter, Dawn C. Dawson; and her brother, Wilbur Hussey.

Elsie’s life revolved around her family. She was a devoted daughter and a loving mother and grandmother. Her granddaughter was the apple of her eye and Elsie was Angell’s guiding light. Throughout Angell’s life, Elsie was by her side as a source of strength and support.

From clothing to flowers, Elsie appreciated all things beautiful. She was always in fashion and carried herself with confidence. She enjoyed time spent in the garden and the flower beds. Elsie took pride in her yard and her home and would offer a meal to everyone who walked through the door.

Elsie worked in the men’s department at H. Stadiem for 35 years. She knew her clientele and lovingly served her community. Elsie considered the Stadiem family to be her own, praying and worrying over them as if they were her siblings and children. Elsie was a woman of strong faith and a prayer warrior. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate and remember Elsie’s life will be held Pinelawn Memorial Park on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 11 a.m. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

Elsie is survived by her granddaughter, Angell Dawson; sister-in-law, Theresa Hussey; niece, Tabitha Grady (Chuck); great-nephew, Hunter Grady, and great-niece Haley Grady.

Elsie’s family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to Blake Williams, who was more than a caregiver, but a very close friend. From the many conversations held to the precious care given, and even a final barbecue sandwich, your love and friendship means more than you will ever know.

In addition to flowers, contributions in Elsie’s memory may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
