Hilda Gray Aycock Renfrow, 89, of Princeton passed away at her home on Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was born in Johnston County on July 28, 1931 to the late Solomon L. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Eldridge Renfrow; brother, Charles Aycock; daughter, Theresia (Terry) Drake O’Neal and a great grandson, Infant Grant Phillips.

The funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations, 105 E. 1st Street, Princeton, NC 27569 with Reverend Dennis Pollock and Reverend Jasper Renfrow officiating.

Mrs. Renfrow was a devoted wife, daughter, sister and mother to her 4 children. She cared for her daddy during his battle with Alzheimer’s, while also caring for her husband who had health issues until his death in 2004.

Many people remember her as the owner and operator of the A&A Coffee shop in Princeton for many years. It was here that she met and made lots of friends, many who still remember her great cooking throughout the years. She is a faithful member of New Jerusalem FWB Church in Kenly, NC and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She attended regularly until her declining health and often spoke of how much she missed the church and the ladies. These ladies visited her regularly until the pandemic would no longer allow visits. She and her husband traveled extensively during their earlier years with his company, visiting many countries abroad and the U.S., but her favorite place was always home with her family. Our family loves her middle name “Gray” so much, that 4 of her grandchildren and great grandchildren carry on her name. Her “Northern” nieces and nephews have many funny stories of her and her charming southern personality, things only “Auntie Hilda” could do and say.

Mrs. Renfrow is survived by sons, Jan Renfrow and wife, Pat of Princeton, and Stacy Renfrow and wife, Sarah of Princeton; daughter, Angie Smith and husband, Bobby of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Aycock of Springfield, MA; sister and brother-in-law, Shelby Durham and husband, J.D. of Hopewell, VA; and eight grandchildren, Bryan Drake and Teresa, Jay Renfrow and Lori, Tracey Phillips and Seth, Brandon Renfrow and Paige, Ashley Smith Burrow and Carl, Lisa Hatem and Kevin, Darian Smith and Chancey, and William Dickerson and Corinna; eighteen great grandchildren, Ethan and Cody Drake, Noah and Salem Burrow, Carson and Anna Claire Hatem, Devlin Smith, Abigail and Macey Thompson, Jacob and Anna Kate Renfrow, Luke, Drew and Reid Phillips, Pyper and Sawyer Renfrow and Liam and Sebastian Dickerson; one great great grandson, Eli Drake and Godson, Joshua Aycock of California. She also leaves behind many of her husband’s family members whom she loved dearly.

Flowers are welcome, but memorials may also be made to New Jerusalem FWB Church, 1461 Jerusalem Church Road, Kenly, NC 27542.
