Mount Olive Family Medicine Expanding With USDA Help (PHOTOS)

A local medical center is expanding thanks to assistance from the USDA-Rural Development.

Mount Olive Family Medicine held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday celebrating an expansion project.

Joey Long is the Chair of the Mount Olive Family Medicine Board says the work follows a plan developed in 2015, and now is the time to increase their ability to serve.

Long adds that over the past 12 months, the providers and staff gained 1,600 new patients and administered over 6,700 COVID tests during the pandemic.

$1.7 million in USDA-RD (U.S. Department of Agriculture North Carolina Rural Development) loans and grants will help Mount Olive Family Medicine construct

  • A 3,000 square foot workspace
  • Nine additional exam rooms
  • Four Provider Rooms
  • A work-up room
  • A conference room
  • Restrooms
