Charles Arthur “Chuck” Merritt

Charles Arthur “Chuck” Merritt, 73, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Chuck was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 23, 1947 to the late Charles Cornelius “Bud” Merritt and Elizabeth Esther Deakin Merritt Waugh. He was the co-owner and president of M & M Supply in Goldsboro. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Chuck was a very strong believer in Jesus Christ and felt that nothing was impossible when you place your trust in God. His faith gave him the courage to face anything in life. He was a member of Harvest Fellowship Church in Goldsboro. Chuck was also a man of many talents from being an excellent bowler, golfer, and a great pool player.

Chuck was an extraordinarily amazing man. He was adored by his family, for whom he was a source of joy and strength, but also by countless others, from old friends to new acquaintances, all of whom were struck by his kindness. He adored and spoiled his wife, Star and he cherished, loved and adored his children and grandchildren and was a perfect role model in their lives. He shared his love of God with everyone he knew and loved sharing his faith every day!

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 12:30 pm – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Chuck’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Pete Norris officiating. Entombment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Star Merritt; his sister, Merwyn Ann Fowler; son, Brian Christopher Merritt; daughter, Michelle Anne Merritt Thompson and husband Charles Allen Thompson; grandchildren, Matthew Ty Thompson and Christopher Allen Thompson; bonus children, Walter James (Jay) Acres and wife, Milissa and Crystal Sundown Blanton and husband, Scott; bonus grandchildren, Hunter Matthew Holland, Alexander Glenn Blanton, Emma Acres and Aidan Acres.

The family will receive friends at 148 Perkins Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530. We will welcome visitors to the home from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday.
