United Way Recognizes Major Investors With Sprit Of NC Awards

United Way of Wayne County announced Wednesday that Mount Olive Pickle, Sentry Insurance Company, WAGES, Anchor Coupling, and Southco Distributing Company were recognized in the 2020 Spirit of North Carolina Awards. In a year full of challenges, UWWC Major Investors have stepped up to serve the Wayne County community in an extraordinary way.

For more than 24 years, United Way of North Carolina has recognized organizations for exemplary work in their local communities through the Spirit of North Carolina award. Organizations are chosen as winners based on criteria that examines their fundraising efforts, volunteer engagement, educational opportunities, and dedication to finding solutions for the social and economic hurdles that United Way organizations confront head-on. On March 3rd, United Way of North Carolina recognized 78 award winners representing 19 local United Ways.

In addition to the Spirit of NC awards, United Way of Wayne County participated in the Excellence in Community Spirit Award ceremony Wednesday. Also recognized were, Duke Energy, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC, and Hanesbrands.

“We commend all 2020 Spirit of North Carolina winners for their ability to pivot campaign plans in light of COVID-19 and demonstrate creativity through virtual and social-distanced fundraising activities,” said Sherry Archibald, Executive Director, UWWC. “We are honored to have these Major Investors as key stakeholders that helps us work towards a North Carolina where everyone thrives.”
