Wayne County citizens are banding together to keep inoculating the community against the coronavirus.

At Tuesday’s Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting, County Manager Craig Honeycutt praised the continued efforts to get the vaccine distributed to residents.

Commissioner Joe Daughtery noted the ease of county’s new vaccine appointment website set up by Wayne County Public Information Officer Joel Gillie.

Commissioner Bevan Foster says he’s already heard from residents who were pleased with the efficiency of the county’s vaccination process and distribution center.

Commissioner Chris Gurley says they’re trying to address issues with missed appointment calls.

Some of the calls have been showing up as spam or robocalls on caller ID, and that’s led residents to avoid answering when their appointment call comes through.

However, Gurley says the county is trying to change how the number appears on caller ID.
