UNITED WAY: It’s Time To Slam Dunk On Hunger

United Way of Wayne County is calling on the community to come together later this month for the annual Fill the Theatre food drive in an effort to defeat hunger in Wayne County. The food drive will be held at the Paramount Theatre March 30-31 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The nonperishable food and paper products will be donated to local nonprofits.

“UWWC appreciates the support and partnership of the City of Goldsboro and the Paramount Theatre Foundation throughout the years to serve as the host site of this vital food drive”, said Sherry Archibald, Executive Director at UWWC. Various nonprofits have reported that food donations are down and requests for assistance are higher than ever, likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UWWC is encouraging donors and volunteers to represent their favorite athlete or sports team. Drop- off donors are welcome. Volunteers will be wearing masks and complying with social distancing procedures.

For a full list of needed items, visit unitedwayne.org. Questions about the drive can be directed to Rachel Rhodes at 919-735-3591. Businesses, churches and civic groups who are interested in competing to see who can fill the most seats with a box or bag of food can register by contact Rachel at the above information.
