Elwood “Skip” Wade, Jr.

Elwood “Skip” Wade, Jr.

February 14, 2021, 70, La Grange –

Elwood “Skip” Wade, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2021. Skip was born in Lenoir County to Peggy Ann Wade and the late Elwood Wade Sr. on September 27, 1950. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deloris Wade Jernigan.

Skip married Mauricia Sparks Wade on November 11, 1977. Both worked and retired from Caswell Center.

It was important to Skip to raise his family in church. Skip was not usually a man of many words, but when he spoke, it was fact-based and Christ-felt. If you wanted long conversations, it was usually about hunting, trapping, history, politics, or family.

Skip retired from Caswell Center as Central Supervisor with 35 years of service. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston, a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Lane Fields Hunting Club, and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force.

Skip was a Christian man, avid reader, loved hunting and trapping and being outdoors. His biggest love was his family.

A service to remember Skip’s life will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Skip was a good husband, great dad, and exceptional grandfather. Skip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mauricia Sparks Wade; children, Jeromy Elwood Wade and wife Brook Lancaster Wade and Jennah Wade Becerril; grandchildren, Bailey, Jentzen, Lana, Chloe, and Angelina; brother, Chris Wade and wife Angie; nephews Ryan Wade, Hunter Wade, Jamie Jernigan and wife Valerie and Kevin Jernigan; great-nieces and great-nephews, Rylan, Addison, Claire, Faith, Skylar, Haleigh, and Savannah; a sister-in-law, Susan Burns and her son, Cliff; as well as many cousins, extended family, and friends.
