Loretta Pope Knowles was given eternal healing on Thursday, February 11, 2021. She was born in Wayne County to the late Owen and Bertie Potter Pope on August 11, 1956. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Maggie Gooding; and brothers, Wayne Pope and Mark Pope.
Loretta had worked for many years as a social worker for the Salvation Army. She had also worked for a period of time with housekeeping at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Loretta was a devoted Christian that loved her church. She was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Loretta loved the many opportunities she had to read a good book. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren and bonus grandchildren. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to remember Loretta’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Archie Brock officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park. Attendees are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
Loretta is survived by her husband of 18 years, Tommy Knowles; daughters, Tammy Braglin and husband John, and Shirley Rollins and husband David; grandchildren, Christian, Daniel, Debbie and Kaitlyn; honorary sons, Andy Overton and Josh Overton; sisters, Bonnie Smith and Wanda Ray; and brother, Michael Pope. She is also survived by her special k-9 friend, Peanut.
