Joe Anthony Smith, 64, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Joe was born in Wayne County on January 30, 1957 to the late Willard and Ruth Smith. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Coker Memorial Church.

At his request, no formal service will be held.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Emily Gwaltney and husband Kimball; sister, Annie Capps and husband Bennie; brothers, Larry Smith and Ray Smith and his wife Martha; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much. He was anticipating the birth of his first grandchild.
