Henry Garland Edmundson, 89, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.

Henry was born in Wayne County on May 11, 1931 to the late Burrell and Bessie Lancaster Edmundson. He was married for 57 years to the late JoAnne Musgrave Edmundson.

Henry lived to serve his Lord, his family and his community. He served his Lord through Antioch Free Will Baptist Church. A community leader and servant, Henry was always willing to help those in his community. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He cherished his wife and was a role model to his family. Henry loved the land and the life of the farmer. He also had a great love for sports, especially basketball, as well as the thrill of going hunting.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service remembering Henry at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in the Edmundson Family Cemetery. Attendees are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

Henry is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Edmundson Trimble of Somerset, KY and boyfriend, Doug Winbon; sons, Dr. Henry G. Edmundson Jr. and husband, Charles J. Cardillo of Pikeville and Pete Edmundson and wife Sharon of Pikeville; grandchildren, Dulcey Trimble and husband John Evans, Raina Trimble, and Tyler Edmundson. He is also survived by his sister, Bertha Davis of Fremont.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mollie Kirby, B.J. Edmundson, James Edmundson, Lawlos Bland, Atha Tunnell, Roscoe Edmundson, Ruth Hokum and LaDell Shackelford.

Henry’s family would like to acknowledge the caregivers who had a profound impact on the quality of his life in recent years. Special thanks go to Angela Reed, Carlena Hunt, Linda Hunt, and Hilda Farmer for the wonderful care they provided allowing Henry to spend his last years at home.
