Leslie Malan “Hogan” Moore

January 26, 2021, 74, Princeton –

Leslie Malan “Hogan” Moore, 74, passed away at UNC Johnston Health on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Hogan was born on December 7, 1946 in Johnston County to the late Leslie Needham Moore and Pauline Mitchell Moore.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

The remembrance service will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating. (Hogan would prefer you wear your favorite blue jeans)

Hogan was a 1966 graduate of Princeton High school and received an Associate’s degree in Machinery from Wayne Community College. He served in the United State Army from 1967-1970 and in the Army National Guard for several years.

For 20 years he worked as a glass mechanic at Ernest Glass Company in Goldsboro before moving into a new career as a Camp Ranger for the Boy Scouts of America. He was the Ranger at Camp Tuscarora in Four Oaks for over 20 years where he managed the campground, directed summer camps and influenced the lives of many scouts across four counties and beyond.

Hogan was an avid horseman, fisherman, gardener, handy man and woodworker (not to be confused with a carpenter!). He also holds the title of World’s Best Granddad, and he loved nothing more than spending time with family and telling stories of days gone by. Hogan could spin a yarn like nobody else.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lamm Moore; son, Shannon Moore of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Ginger Moore (Shane Turner) of Princeton; brother, Carlton Moore of Mt. Olive; sisters, Anne Creech of Washington, NC; and Ava Robbins of Pikeville; grandson, Eli Turner Moore.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).

The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support they have received during this time of grief.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.caseyfh.com.
