Alton Ray Amerson, 69, of Lucama passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his home.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 29, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Mr. Amerson was born in Wayne County on December 06, 1951 to the late Alton Brutus Amerson and Melissa Evans Amerson. He was retired from Bridgestone/Firestone in Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Amerson; one son, Elton Ray Amerson and wife, Jessica of Sims; one daughter, Kathy Lynn Sanders and husband, Ronnie of Bailey; six step-brothers, Curley Tucker and wife, Wanda, Ben Evans and wife, Donna Jean, Paul Tucker, Jimmy Tucker, David Earl Tucker, L.G. Sasser; one step-sister, Barbara Sullivan and husband, Buddy; four grandchildren, Mark and Sarah Sanders and Tray and Olivia Amerson.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.
