Ida Adele Hurd Bennington, 84, died Wednesday at her residence.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah B. Thorn (Michael) of Rosewood; grandchildren, Steven Bennington, Mary Miller and Michael Thorn, III; sister, Janice Hurd Winebarger (Gleen) of Hampton, VA; and brother, Leon Hurd (Permillia) of Hampton, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Walter Bennington (Nov. 2020). She and her husband would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on December 23. She was also preceded by her son, Carl Dean Bennington (May 2020), and her parents Frances Adele Edwards and Elmo Dillard Hurd.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 19 at 3:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Massey will officiate. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
